π Getting started
- Open Loregate on your laptop.
- Click π₯οΈ Open player screen. Drag the new window onto your second
monitor / TV and press F11 for full-screen.
- Pick a map from the ⨠New / preset⦠menu (or start blank), then start
dragging tokens. The player screen updates instantly.
Both screens must be opened from the same browser on the same
computer β they sync through it. Everything is stored locally; nothing leaves
your device.
πΊοΈ Locations
Every location keeps its own map, terrain, tokens, items, fog, weather and drawings.
- βΉ βΊ flip between saved locations; the name field renames the current one.
- ⨠New / preset⦠builds a blank or ready-made map (tavern, market, school,
road, forest, elven glade, treehouse, villa, cavern, vault, villain's lair, mimic hall).
Presets start fogged so you reveal them as the party explores.
- β³ / β± export or import a single location; ποΈ deletes it.
π¨ Terrain
Choose a terrain, then ποΈ Paint it cell by cell (walls, water, roads, rugsβ¦).
𧽠Erase removes painted terrain; Fill map repaints the whole
base. Water and lava shimmer only within their own cells.
π«οΈ Fog & visibility
- π¦ Reveal / π«οΈ Hide brushes with 1Γ1 / 3Γ3 / 5Γ5
sizes (hold Alt to invert a brush).
- Reveal all / Hide all for the whole location.
- See-through slider β how transparent unrevealed fog looks on your
screen (players always see solid black).
- β¬ Blackout instantly blacks out the players' screen.
- Turn on Dynamic light in Settings and give a player a torch or lantern β
fog opens around them automatically.
π¦οΈ Weather β per block
- Select a weather type (it highlights) β Rain, Storm, Snow, Hail, Mist,
Fog, Sun, Heat, Cold or Embers.
- Click πΊοΈ Whole map to apply it everywhere, or ποΈ Paint to
brush it onto only the blocks you click.
- βοΈ Erase cells removes weather from specific blocks; π« Clear all
resets it.
Different blocks can carry different weather at once. Skip indoors (off by
default) keeps weather off walls and floors when you switch it on β leave it off and weather
falls everywhere, including over stone dungeons.
Each tool bar (Terrain, Fog, Weather, Draw) has a βΎ next to its
name β click it to fold the bar away and reclaim screen space. Your choices are
remembered.
βοΈ Drawing & laser pointer
- βοΈ Pen draws on the map. Pick a colour, thickness
and a style: Pen, Marker, Glow or
Dashed.
- π©Ή Erase rubs out strokes; βΆ Undo removes the last one;
π§Ή Clear wipes them all.
- π¦ Laser β hold and move to point things out; a glowing dot follows your
cursor on both screens and vanishes when you let go.
βοΈ Tokens, items & combat
Roster
Add players / enemies / NPCs, adjust HP, AC, initiative, conditions and size. Hide a
token from players or reveal its HP. Drag tokens on the map to move them β names and HP
stay inside the square.
Items & props
Click a prop in the palette, then click the map to place it (or place and drag). Rename,
resize, hide or delete each one.
Initiative
Auto-roll, step through turns and track the round. The active creature glows on both
screens.
Dice
d4βd100 with count, modifier and advantage. Tick Show rolls to the players
to reveal each result on their screen with a flourish.
π§ Character sheets & the bench
- π§ Characters (top bar) opens a separate screen of full party sheets β
class, level, race, AC, HP, ability scores with modifiers, skills, magic, inventory,
background/lore and notes. Link a sheet to a token and their HP syncs both
ways with the map. Export the sheets on their own or with the whole campaign.
- π Off-map bench β send a token to the bench beside the map (players can't
see it), then drag it onto the map to deploy. Great for preparing ambushes
and NPCs. From the roster you can also copy a character to another location
to set up a future scene, and new locations ask whether to bring the party along.
π₯ What the players see
The player screen shows the current map, revealed areas, weather, drawings and any tokens/items
you've left visible. It never shows hidden tokens, DM fog or your notes. You can also enable a
party HP sidebar, the party inventory, dice rolls
and the read-aloud scene.
π§ Panels & settings
Reorder any panel with β² βΌ or send it straight to the bottom with
β€. The Settings panel holds animations, night overlay, grid on the player
screen, coordinates, snap-to-grid, dynamic light, the party sidebar, inventory & dice
sharing, HP-as-numbers, names-on-hover and confirm-deletions.
Save before a big fight and Load to roll back. Everything lives
in this browser.
